Yes, I had tried weaning for months before I could finally call it quits (not as long as you tried though) a month later, my little one still says " wa nus " and gets extremely upset when I say " no " . I was once asked by someone (sorry, that was a while ago) if Morrigan had any lasting effects from the reaction to her shots, at that point we were still nursing. So it is possible I have yet to see. I do really believe that having raw milk as a replacement has helped. We did buy some store milk last week because the cow is dry (due to calf soon) and the goat's kid got to her before I did 3 mornings in a row (speaking of problems weaning), Morrigan wouldn't touch it after the first sip. I think the kids are more in tuned to their bodies than we, as adults, are. > He nursed 8-10 times every night... When I talked to the doctor about na waking up every hour, all night, every night, I was told they were night terrors. I told her they were not, didn't fit the description. That after waking up screaming she clung to me and wanted to nurse, I was told by this woman that na was spoiled and that I should leave her (crying and screaming) to fall back asleep on her own. I did NOT see that doctor anymore. >we've decided to homeschool him... That is a difficult and powerful decision, one that I also agree with. Guest guest
Thanks for the resposes on this issue. Someone asked if I have filling in my teeth.I do not. My exposure to mecury was more than four years ago. I worked in a seafood resturant while a was pregnant with my second son Drew, now he's 4 1/2 DX PDD. I ate seafood swordfish and salmon mostly and everyday. I also ate shark, tuna clams etc. I received the MMR after giving birth as I was attending college and it was required. I breastfed for a short time a couple of weeks maybe. Since then I ate fish once in a while and not at all when I found out I was pregnant. How long could that mecury stay inmy body. I am breastfeeding now but i am worried. I still haven't forgiven myself for poisioning my other son. I hope I amdoing the right thing by breastfeeding Thanks for the support Edie MOm to Matt age 8 ADD DREw age 4 1/2 PDD Baby 2 weeks
Guest guest
> How long could that mecury stay inmy body. I have read that body mercury will be cleared out on its own in about 3 to 5 years IF there is no ongoing exposure. Brain takes nearly forever--- halflife is about 20 to 30 years, I have seen various estimates. I am breastfeeding >now but i am worried. I still haven't forgiven myself for poisioning my other >son. well, I hope you will forgive yourself soon. I assume that you would not intentionally poison yourself or your son, so I don't see anything to forgive. I guess you could forgive yourself for not knowing...... (this is meant " light heartedly " ) I personally see the situation as more like a systemic cultural disease condition. MOST people are exposed to mercury..... some seem to fare better, and some worse. The fish didn't ask to live in poisoned water either. In order to NOT be exposed to mercury one has to know a WHOLE LOT of stuff to avoid. > I hope I amdoing the right thing by breastfeeding there are lots of benefits to breastfeeding, as I'm sure you know. Pros and cons. If I were you I would do what you are doing--- breastfeed, and try not to worry I don't think there is a clear " answer " but it is clear that there are many benefits. best, Moria [not a mom]
Guest guest
Hi, I've never posted here before, just been lurking for a while. I was just noting the breastfeeding discussion and the way I see it, nutrition itself is only a tiny part of how you choose to feed your child. There are a huge range of other issues involved, like attachment, proper formation of teeth, reduced likelihood of breast cancer for mom, antibodies that pass from mom to babe etc. that make breastfeeding an obvious win over bottles even if mama's diet is a little lacking. From a strict nutritional standpoint, I think there are slight differences, but humans can thrive with less than perfect nutrition, and the other reasons for breastfeeding are so important. No brainer.
