Herxheimer reaction?

I'm having periods when I feel like I'm getting the flu (achey body, headaches) and my acne is out of control (yukky cystic type). I haven't had acne this bad in many years. Usually I have only a pimple here and there. Now my face is a battlezone. Is this is the Herxheimer Reaction that some of you mentioned?

Yes, it most certainly sounds like it. Keep cleansing and getting rid of the stuff--I found that fasting made all my zits go away.

It very well can be. My reactions got my joints because of my arthritis. The reaction is pretty much different for everyone.

Herxheimer also called healing crisis can produce any number of symtpoms,

including fevers, flu-like symptoms, extreme fatigue, irritability,

depression, skin rashes, sweats, stomach and intestinal distress, and so on.

Toxins may leave the body excessively through the mucus (nose, throat),

bowels, kidneys, perspiration. You can feel pretty bad. It can last from a

day to a week or so, depending.

Julee;

The Jarisch-Herxheimer Reaction occurs when there is a die-off of organisms from either natural health or use of antibiotics. When the organisms die they release toxins that overload the body's cleanup capacity and because of this there may be any number of things that can happen. People, like myself, that have arthritis may experience increased pain in the joint for a couple of days while the blood, liver, and colon work at getting out the toxins.

Hi,

I'm wondering if you have any known " active " infections? For example

HHV6, CMV, mycoplasma etc?

I had what I thought was a herxheimer reaction to transfer factor/and

or Immunovir and/or ImmunePro a few years ago. I had a severe

reaction, aching/burning in my bones and muscles, vertigo, low blood

pressure and I couldn't walk my legs got so weak/stiff. So my

solution was to stop taking this stuff. It's taken quite a few years

to get back to base.

Your taking taking quite a few treatments at once so it's difficult

to tell what is doing what.

Unfortunately, when my lymph nodes swell and my throat gets very sore, it is

from over-exertion / relapse. While I've had Herx reactions before, the

symptoms were never as bad as from over exertion. The best treatment for me has

been additional rest and increased dosage of colostrum (from 2 to 4 pills

daily), NAC (from 0 to 2 pills daily) and glutathione IVs.

no known active infections though usual pattern of elevated ebv

antibodies. and these reactions are to each of the therapies below

when tried individually. not as a cocktail.

thanks.

My suggestion would be to have a CFS Panel done. Maybe PCR testing

to see if you have any " active " infections, including h.pylori,

which is probably one of the culprits in my case.

Dear Netizen2K,

I sure sounds like a Herxheimer reaction to me. All the things you

mentioned have the capability of boosting the immune system. Have

you considered trying activated charcoal, say a few grams at a time?

Perhaps there are some toxins being released that you could bind with

activated charcoal so that they would not be reabsorbed back to the

liver. This is just a guess.

Please consult with your doctor before deciding to try this.

Sorry, the first word in my last message was supposed to be " It "

I started making both kefir and beet kvass a couple of weeks ago. I

had to leave on a trip and was gone 5 days, taking the kefir (sans

grains) with me. I had one small, about 4 oz., glass of the kvass

the evening I was supposed to leave.

I started sneezing and couldn't stop, and also had a sore throat. I

couldn't sleep that night and had to leave at 4 a.m. anyhow; I drove

(and met a carpool) until 6:30 that evening. By that time I was

miserably tired and felt awful.

For the next three days, at the convention center, I was very clogged

up, but the sore throat was gone. I drank kefir every morning for

breakfast. Then I returned home, taking a full day, still clogged up.

The day I returned, I drank some more kvass, about 2 oz. this time.

Within a day I was sniffling with a sore throat again and ran a

slight fever. Two days later I was given a gallon of kombucha with

two two scobys in it; the kombucha seemed to ease my lungs. I

gradually increased to drinking about 8 oz a day.

I'm still a bit clogged up. I'm afraid to try the kvass again. I'm

pregnant, and in the past I had horrible allergies and asthma (since

drinking raw milk haven't had a problem). Could this be a Herxheimer

reaction, since my allergies are my body's weak point? Or did I just

overdo it and catch a cold that turned on the allergies again?

Thanks for your insights,

Tracey
