Guest guest
Hello All I hope you can help me in choosing the best complete system for the best possible price. I have always wanted an EEG biofeedback device to see just what brainwaves I was producing, but they cost so much money back then. Many years ago whilst reading a book on altered states of consciousness they mentioned about Alpha brainwave biofeedback and mentioned a company that could supply such a device. The company was called Aleph1. I wrote to them and eventually purchased their cheapest EEG biofeedback device " The Alpha detector " cost me about £300 back then, the more expensive one was about £3000. The Alpha detector is a very simplistic device and the only thing it can do is to emit a beep when it detects Alpha brainwaves, no computer interface and a waste of money. My interests in biofeedback have grown since then and as a result I own a number of other devices (light sound, GSR and heart rate devices) that are used to help you relax and even produce certain brainwaves using the frequency follow response, but none can help with the following situations. I wish to be able to see what brainwaves I am producing when I reach a certain meditative state. The problem is that I can not always reproduce the state, as I'm not sure what is happening. With the EEG feedback device I could take a snap-shot when I get to that state, it could show me my brainwaves and I could then try to reproduce them as I would be able to see exactly what is going on. It would be good if there was a way to train my brain to reproduce that state at will. The second thing I would wish to try is to decrease my anxiety level. I'm always feeling like I'm on edge and need to relax more. I believe the anxiety, like a nervous energy, is detrimental to my irritable bowel syndrome. When I have to give a presentation in front of people, my anxiety levels just go through the roof and lots of times I back out. I'm hoping that neurofeedback could help in this area too. I have had a good look at your website and have narrowed my choices to the following: BioExplorer and all the necessary conductive gels and electrodes with one of the following: QDS Focus (better review than the pendant) Pendant EEG Or would you recommend any others? If so why? The most I wish to spend is about 2000 USD That's including postage to the UK etc. Hope to hear from you soon. I don't think you could probably do better than that even for your total price. Whether you would be able to use NF to see what your brainwaves are doing in the interest of duplicating them later, I'm not so sure that approach would be too successful. You could definitely take a " snapshot " at a certain point (you could record the whole session, in fact), but I think the idea that you could somehow use that information consciously to induce that state again is unrealistic at best. Hard to explain, but " it just doesn't work that way. " Think of it more like doing the right training itself will train your brain to go to that state on its own, rather than you are going to study the brainwave " snapshot " (if it even would be very meaningful to the eye in that respect, which is doubtful) to try to get to the state by consciously changing your brainwaves to match the pattern. I think your anti-anxiety goals are very realistic and doable. good luck, Jeff W.

I ordered the following last night: The Focus with BioExplorer and the QuickStart package. 4 silver cup electrodes, a pair of silver earcup electrodes and the Silver Starter Pack 1. The skills video on finding sites and the BioExplorer tutorial manual. Now it's just the anxious wait for the delivery. I will try not to swamp this place with too many questions.
