coconut oil: refined versus virgin/unrefined

Does anyone know what health benefits are associated with coconut oil that

are attributable to compounds found only in virgin or unrefined coconut oil?

I know that the benefit to the immune system is due to the fatty acids. What

about the benefit to metabolism and thyroid? Is that also due to the fatty

acids? I've been using lots of CO for the last two weeks mostly to try to lose

some fat (It's harder for me to lose fat because I have less than your

average " physically fit " male already), and it seems to have a positive effect,

but

I've been using refined stuff and want to make sure I'm not missing out on

something.

I tried to get unrefined today, but the place that sells it was out.

Thanks Kay. It didn't answer my question in detail, but what was

there seemed to indicate the metabolic effects are due to the fatty

acids, which is good for me.

There is also the coconut oil open forum that doesn't have the heavy

moderation by someone with a financial interest in his own brand of

oil:

Hey ,

THANKS! I love that Sally Fallon is on that group, but I also HATE how

they moderate it... I'm so TORN whether or not I should just leave.

You can't even complain, because they'd just not post it!

And I am for " some " moderation... and marking OT posts and such.
