As already mention, it was Archbishop Lazar Puhalo. In fact this is one of his main issues when it comes to gender, based on his writings and a book about his teachings that I have. He feels the relative_value that's been placed on men's and women's historic roles is a perversion of the faith. Further, he emphasizes that the gender roles, especially those of husbands and wives that are types of Christ and the Church, and manifest in headship, have historically erroneously been extrapolated to business and industry. According to him there's nothing in the Scriptures about women not being able to lead in other aspects of their lives. Additionally, he believes that some good has come out of the feminist movement in that it has helped women gain some rights that were wrongfully stripped of us due to false interpretations of scripture in assigning relative value to gender roles and also assigning relative value to men and women, with women being considered, by some biblical scholars and several cultures, as inferior because Adam was created first. I'm not clear on the Archbishop's view of creation, but his biographer wrote that he argues that Adam and Eve were created simultaneously. (Either way, it doesn't follow that the first created person is in any way superior to the second, in my mind. And apparently that's the stance of the Orthodox Church, which considers itself to be the only church that is still completely faithful to original Christianity, FWIW. Although I imagine that's a controversial stance in the eyes of other denominations!). Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. Web Design & Development http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze3shjg Weston A.
