Guest guest
Hi, I've been lurking for quite a while, and posting a bit recently, so I guess it's only polite to introduce myself. I'm from San Francisco, California, and my husband and I moved to Ohio a year ago. We bought a hilly, scrub-brushy 67 acre farm right next-door to my parents-in-law. As my last name might indicate, my in-laws are of Amish origin and know a good bit about farming. My Father-in-law is currently building us a very nice house that we plan to move into in the fall, and then I'll really get started growing our own food and getting some livestock. I started reading Weston Price/Wise Traditions stuff just before we moved, which really helped me get excited about farming. We want to have children but haven't been able to yet, so we're signed up for parenting. If our well ever passes the water quality test we might actually get a foster kid! It's failed 3 times now - Coliform bacteria. ( I have found a source of raw milk, grass-fed beef and excellent eggs, plus a small amount of organic veggies, so I'm off to a good start. I really enjoy most of the discussions on this list. Cheers, Margaret Yoder
