Guest guest
Johanna-- Interestingly enough, both of my daughters (now 19 and 23)had no cavities at all...ever...but I had sealants put on their molars when they were younger. Within the last year, both girls had a cavity due to the sealant..food getting under an older sealant. They both go the dentist every 6 months for checks. So, I think you are right about the sealants actually causing a cavity that may have never been there without it. I was a little disgusted. Anyway, I know your concern of what to use for the filling. I'd stay away from mercury ones. If you have a small cavity, you could get the plastic ones. The concern with those is that they can affect hormones, but I don't know if a tiny one would do that. This would be worth searching the web for. I know you can also get porcelain fillings. I plan to have my amalgams removed, and I don't know what to replace them with either. Maybe some other people could respond as to what they have used. Maybe some have...I was on a vacation and missed some of the messages. It will be interesting to hear what you end up choosing. ---Judy
