Green tea, yea or nay?

Hello,

I've been eating a basically NT/Schwarzbein diet for the past few

weeks. I've been taking sam-e for about a week for depression. I

think my adrenals may be pretty burned out so I've cut out sugar and

caffeine. I can live without the sugar, but I find myself with a yen

for green tea. I know Schwarzbein and Sally really advise against

caffeine consumption. Do any of you drink green tea and consider the

health benefits to outweigh the negative effects of the caffeine?

I've been thinking about ordering some good quality bancha green tea

to keep the caffeine level down. What do you think?

Thanks,

green tea caffiene is different than coffee and different than black tea

caffiene.

i'd say go for it, just make sure your tea is organic - or you're putting

in more toxins than anything else!!

after a lot of talk lately about the flouride content so i highly advice getting

organic versions. if you have any thyroid issues i would avoid green or any tea

really, and maybe go with some organic coffee substitute or something like that.

Would you mind elaborating on your comment regarding green tea and

thyroid issues. I have taken green tea tablets in the past. I also

have a somewhat underactive thyroid, although it is better than it used

to be with help from an ND. I am interested in hearing more.

Thanks,

Kristi

Hello,

For the most excellent green tea, I suggest you contact Shifuku Tea

Co in San Francisco's Japantown. This store imports green tea that is

otherwise only available in Japan. Green tea has been used as

medicine for centuries by monks in Asia - but it is only medicine if

you get the good stuff. The store carries a variety of kinds from

shade grown organic gyokoro to the tea-ceremony powdered matcha and

less expensive but still good quality kinds as well. It is the best

green tea I've found, and the owner is quite helpful in answering

questions.
