Guest guest
Here is the law for NY. There is no guessing involved. http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cgi Click Laws of NY Click Article 1/Title 2 Click PBH Section 18 Part 2 Paragraph (e) You can read the whole thing if you truly want. Otherwise, take my word for it. In NY, you can charge "reasonable charges" up to $0.75 per page and no more. I am certain your mileage varies in other states. - Brett charge to copy records> >> > I got my first lawyer letter asking for copies of records for my> patient's worker's comp case.> >> > What are you charging to copy records?> >> > I'll assume this is legal to ask as it does not relate to charges> for care or billed back to insurance. Guest guest
Thanks Brett, et al -- I think the point's been made that each state varies in statutes and we should charge the standard fee in our states. However, I think I'll deliniate the fees as " costs per page " and " time to mail " (due to my being solo-solo without staff) and I'll see what the lawyers pay... god knows they'd do the same thing... time is often the basis for lawyers' pay! And I'm always amazed at how much they pay me for being an expert witness. If they refuse, I ain't going to fight it, but it'll be good to see what happens -- it'll be like a 10 minute 99213 appt.
