D test, and this time did the right test. My result was 62 ng/mL. The lab's reference range is 20-57 ng/mL. Krispin's refernce range goes up to 65 ng/mL. So I'm within her reference range. I take 2 Tbsp. of Premiere brand CLO daily, and had been doing this for several months prior to taking the test. Having said that, my ND who authorized the test, said that he could not find any case of vitamin D toxicity in the literature other than one case of a man who unknowingly was taking " industrial doses " of 400,000 IU per day of vit. D for several months. When the mistake was discovered, he stopped taking the large doses and his toxicity symptoms disappeared. My ND said he talked to Cannell, MD, head of the Vitamin D council, who, IIRC, confirmed that there's never been a case of vitamin D toxicity from supplements reported in the literature. My ND said he was planning on contacting Krispin since she warns against overdosing and has reported possible toxicity. But at this point, he said I should carry on with my high doses without worry. I suggested that maybe I should re-test in 6 months or so. But he said even if my level went up to 75 ng/mL in 6 months there's nothing to be concerned about as there's no evidence of vit. d toxicity (aside from industrial doses, of course!). " (Note: I take 2 tbsp. of the high vitamin CLO daily, which nets me about 7,000 IUs vit. D from CLO alone. I also take a multi vit with 400 additional IUs. And I get some from food as well. Also, the ND who authorize the test is not WAPF-affiliated, although he's a fan and has come to at least one of our local WAPF chapter potlucks.) FWIW. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. If it's the latter, could you elaborate on the reasoning behind your decision to take up this regimen? Is the high PUFA content a concern? > Having said that, my ND who authorized the test, said that he > could not find any case of vitamin D toxicity in the > literature other than one case of a man who unknowingly was > taking " industrial doses " of 400,000 IU per day of vit. Therapeutic. If >it's the latter, could you elaborate on the reasoning behind your decision >to take up this regimen? Is the high PUFA content a concern? Yes, the high PUFA content is a concern. I'm actually taking a bit less now since I get more sun exposure, but so far we've had a really rainy/overcast summer so I haven't gotten much sun at all. However, my diet's pretty high in saturated fats so I'm sure that helps counterbalance negative effects from my PUFA consumption. > >> Having said that, my ND who authorized the test, said that he >> could not find any case of vitamin D toxicity in the >> literature other than one case of a man who unknowingly was >> taking " industrial doses " of 400,000 IU per day of vit. I can't remember any of the details the ND told me other than that. Perhaps it was mislabeled? Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc.
