Guest guest
We'd love to have you. Mark you calendar , 'cause you're going to (sorry, not Disneyland) the IMP convocation! 9/28, 6:30-9PM room 156 of the Washington Convention Center I'll be sending out the formal invitation soon. You have to print it out and bring it with you to get past security (not kidding). G At 01:15 PM 7/26/2006, you wrote: , I’m in Newport News, VA (about 2-2 ½ hours from Charlottesville). You are more that welcome to visit my practice any time, but I generally take Wednesday afternoons as “admin” time, so if you wanted to come down then we could actually sit down and go through any questions or concerns you might have. Note: I opened my office in April 2003 and you can get more info on it at www.thevillagedr.com. Not to speak for them, but I know (Virginia Beach), Cathryn Harbor (Lexington), Fergusson (Richmond), and Ellen Rabun (Blacksburg) are all doing the micropractice thing in Virginia. You may want to contact them as well. I have attached the “Cutting edge” doctor list and you can find their information on the list as well. Look forward to hearing from you soon! New Neurology Micropractice Hi, My fiancee and I are in the process of opening a Neurology Micropractice and we have a few questions for the group. But first I'd like to give a little bit of background about myslef because I hope to become involved in the micropractice movement. I went to medical school because, as an insulin dependent diabetic, I was not pleased with the quality of medical care. I (arrogantly) thought that I could do it better than my own doctors and I planned to become an endocrinologist. Over the course of medical school, I realized that the system was broken, it wasn't that all doctors were jerks. I went into pathology for health reasons, but made the mistake of chosing a program that was extremely demanding and my health suffered, so I left residency after intern year. My fiancee, , is a Neurologist who specializes in Multiple Sclerosis and doesn't perform EMGs. We are in the early stages of opening a micropractice in Rutland, Vermont and will soon be moving from Charlottesville, VA. will be the clinician and I will do everything else. Our questions: 1. Is anyone within dringing distance (say 150 miles) of Charlottesville, VA who would mind if I came and spent a few hours with them to see their setup, paricularly their EMR/ practice management software? I'd like to hear it from a doc using it instead of the vendor. 2. Are there any Neurology micropractices already operating out there. If so, do any of them operate without performing EMGs? 3. From reading the archives of posts, I see a few husband and wife teams. Can anyone speak to the challenges of working with their spouse? 4. In the article that Gordon just sent us, it mentioned that no one had quantified the micropractice movement beyond the data from the 1st micropractice cohort. I was wondering if anyone thought it would be worthwhile to send out a formal survey to current micropractitioners and those thinking about beginning a micropracrice. It might be interesting to describe barriers to beginning a micropractice and the difficulties in the early stages of a micropractice. 5. Is membership on this listserv enough to get us an invite to the DC conference in September? Thanks for all the valuable info provided by this group.
