Guest guest
Here's a success story for anyone wondering if all this really does work. I had my teeth cleaned today. I have been very lax about flossing or using my waterpik since my last cleaning because I wanted to see what would happen. I've flossed maybe once a week for the past 4 months and use the waterpik once every other week. My dentist told me my gums were excellent and whatever I was doing to keep it up. The few deep pockets I had in some gums have completely disappeared and my teeth are all in the normal range. Since I'm 50 with a history of gum problems he was very pleased. (and he understand some of what I'm doing dietwise but hasn't quite got it all yet...I'm working on him) I got into Weston Price because my teeth were essentially rotting despite all the excellent care I gave them. I flossed regularly, used a waterpik, brushed after meals, etc. but still got cavities and inflamed, receding gums. They always bleed no matter what I did. This was about 4-5 years ago on a mostly veg diet. I stumbled across WPF info trying to address this before I lost my teeth! This has been by far the best visit yet especially as I purposely didn't try to take extra care of my teeth. I've also had more Ca and CLO over the past few months than ever before and am attributing some of this to that. Lynn
Guest guest
> Lynn, thanks for the success story! Out of curiosity how much and what > is the source of your calcium? (diet and supplements?) And how much CLO > are you taking? ---> The Ca is coming from bone meal tabs, raw goat dairy, and bone broths. The bone meal is MCHC (calcium hydroxyapatite) 1,000 mg and however much Ca is in 2 cups of raw goat milk. I also consume bone broths made from bones that have been left in an apple cider vinegar/water solution for 24-48 hours then simmered for up to 24. I have at least 1 cup every day. And I usually have some raw cheese and at times small fish with bones. The CLO is high vit and I started using 3 Tbsp. Plus I use butter oil. I've now reduced that to 1-2 TBSp depending on the stress I'm under. Right now I'm under a fair amount as I teach high school in a failing inner city school. We're falling under all the no child left behind rigamarole of time wasting junk. I'm guessing that even though my diet has been very good over the past two years, my vit A must have been low owing to the quick success I've seen by upping it. Sally Fallon mentioned on the chapter leaders site that stress can quickly use it up. I'm guessing that my job last year combined with the beginning of menopause could have been the cause of depletion. But who knows ...this stuff is way complicated. All I know is I'm having phenomenal success right now and nothing else has worked this well for me. By Ca do you mean calcium? I forwarded your post to my husband bc he always has major gum problems. Maybe he'll look at what i'm doing as something more than " rotting food " as he calls it.
