Please debunk this myth (re: kombucha)

Oh goodness gracious.......I need some wisdom on this one. I was

*going* to start making kombucha this week, but my MIL says to

me, " That thing could get into our septic system and grow and

multiply and take over!! " We are currently staying with my in-laws

while my husband looks for a new job. I don't want to tell her

she's crazy.....but that's exactly what I'm thinking!!

Can anyone give me some info to counter this?? Thanks......
