Hello all,

Has anyone experienced improved vision since taking up a better diet?

I have. My optometrist was amazed when, at my annual check-up last week, I

was able to read the 20/25 line. Last year the smallest line I could read

was 20/30.

Three years ago my vision was 20/60.

I'm hoping for 20/20 next year.

The Dr. asked me what my secret was. I didn't know where to start but I

think some of the big factors are no processed foods, sweets and I take

omega-3 supplements and get enough rest.

My vision improved slightly after I gave up sugars/whites and was taking a fish

oil supplement. The optometrist said it wasn't enough to change my prescription.

I haven't been so good with the sugars/whites and omega 3's lately though :-(

Cheers,

Tas'.

Gosh Tas. Do you have to be so blatantly racist? As a white, I protest! I

especially protest being lumped in with *sugar*!

I have, although I don't know what my numbers are. I first noticed in

when I caught myself running errands and realized I'd not put on my glasses

before leaving the house. Asked my ND once, thought CLO had to do with

it, but he said it was a combination of things I was doing/had changed.

Not complaining a bit. :)

I've heard various things ... there does seem to be a connection (in studies)

between sweets and eyesight, because the eyeball is sensitive to insulin

as it grows. I tend to think that foods like dried anchovies have a ton

of nutrients in them that help too, but I haven't seen any studies done

on that.

Ha Ha - make that 'simple carbs' then.

Cheers,

Tas'.

PS: I'm white too. Blonde as well - but don't tell anyone ;-)

I'd bet the improvement is due to the increase in Vitamin A. Once an

alternative doc had me taking significant amounts of Vit A. Even though it

was the synthetic form, the improvement in my visual acuity was pretty

immediate and quite amazing. The improvement seems to be dose-related, but

perhaps only if you start out deficient...

I've recently had an improvement in mine, and this time, I think I can

credit a particularly effective acupuncture session.

Mine hasn't changed in the slighest - still blind as a

bat ;-). Mind, I don't get high levels of vit A as my

fish oil is just the oil. not the vits too.

However, there have been studies that link myopia to

consumption of refined carbohydrates. It was reported

in New Scientist some time ago.
