Moaneeca,

Where did you get the helmet? We're in Omaha and my daughter's helmet is quite

snug, too, and there aren't any red marks from rubbing. Her helmet isn't

difficult to put on, though. I think some are made to be snug, but if you're

feeling uncomfortable about it, you may want to follow your " mommy intuition "

and consult your orthotist or whoever you see for evaluation.

Don't worry about being paranoid! I think most of us have gone through that at

some point. You're just being a good mom!

Jodi,

I'd call your ortho's office before they all dissappear for the holidays so you'll know what to do. It sounds like its too tight if after an hour and a half its still there.

OK, so he took a nap and slept on his tummy and woke up with a really red line across his forehead and down to his ear where he was sleeping. I took the helmet off to give the line a chance to go away, and he's been up for an hour and a half and the line's still there. Should I worry since it was probably from him sleeping, or should I leave the helmet off?

Sorry so many questions - he just started sleeping on his tummy, so I'm not sure if the red line is OK or not since he's never had it till now...

As long as he seems comfortable, hopefully the next fitting will give him more room. Good luck!' MomFor more plagio info

I would keep the helmet off him til the line is completely faded. You

did say there's hardly any room left for him to grow into his helmet

before, so he may just about be maxed out in it.....update us!

Thanks everyone. It did finally fade, but when I put it back on him again, even after 15 minutes he had a deep red indent in his forehead again. It's like his head grew overnight! He must have had a major growth spurt though, because his appt was exactly two weeks ago, and the helmet was HUGE on him. I was worried it was going to be too big for him, and all of a sudden it's very tight! I was concerned enough that I called the orthotist, and she's off till Thursday... She was booked Thurs/Fri, so they were going to squeeze me in with the main guy at 9am Fri, but they called back a minute later and said the main guy was concerned enough about my description of the fit that he would squeeze us in on his lunch hour tomorrow. So, hopefully he'll either make it fit, or declare us done! Fingers crossed for the second option! ;-)

I'll let you know what happens...

Good Jodi - I was just going to say I think you should keep it off

until Monday. Sounds like he may have outgrown it. Let us know

what you find out.
