Guest guest
Stimming is a coping mechanism, I think. Maybe just being out of the house helps him to cope too. Knowing when and when not to let my son stim has been one of the hardest things about autism for me. I find it hard to change with him. I feel I need to let him stim when he is in pain and then actively discourage him when he is not. He seems to me grateful to be diverted into more social play when he is feeling well but unable to be sociable when he is not.
