Guest guest
Dear Lenny, Thanks for your response. I really welcome hearing from you and the other dads on the list, because it helps me to remember how differently men and women are socialized. Believe me, as I raise Teddy I am conscious of the words I use, and try to praise him for traits such as gentleness and kindness. What I don't understand about the armor that men wear, thanks to society, is why it NEVER comes off. I can see Dan not wanting to talk about his feelings to other guys at work or when he plays tennis or golf. But why can't we have a level, honest conversation when we're both alone together and I am specifically asking how he is feeling? I don't think " fine " is even considered an emotion, is it? Aaarrrggghhh! Well, I know I have work to do to open the lines of communication with Dan, and I suppose I can't blame all men in general for the problems we have communicating, so you're off the hook, Lenny. I probably should stop writing because I don't want to develop a reputation as the PMG list man-hater -- I'm not! Really! I'm off to watch my well-worn video of " Thelma and Louise " ...
