Guest guest
He was born on June 17th this year. Went for his 6 week check and it was noted that his head control was very weak. So they saw him again at 12 weeks, there had been little improvement over the 6 weeks. He was very aggitated and not holding eye contact or smiling at anyone. So they admitted him and did an MRI, Cranial Ultrasound, Optical Exams, an EEG and a Barium Meal Test. From these tests they discovered Daire had severe Gastric Reflux and was put on Zantac Syrup and his formula was changed to Enfamil AR. That reduced the aggitation, and helped improve his eye contact and so he began to smile and interact with people. They also diagnosed him with PMG. It seemed to surprise the Neurologist that Daire was feeding from a bottle, sucking a soother and taking solids from a spoon - as messy as he is at this. Daire can't yet grasp or hold objects, but hopefully he will achieve this in time, with the help of Physio and a lot of support and patience. His head control has improved greatly, he's started to suck his hands and hold them together, all in all over the last 6 weeks since diagnosis Daire has already gained some developmental ground. So who know's what he will achieve in the weeks or years to come. I will keep you up to date with his progress. Daire's Mum
