Hi! I am a long time non clinician lurker who stumbled into the magic of NF 13 years ago and who has enthusiastically done home NF training for the last 10 years.I think Berceli's TRE exercises are great adjunct to NFand wanted to share my experiences.

..I learned of Berceli's exercises about 9 months ago another forum.I was skeptical and expected little but I am shocked by their value for me.It was unexpected.. Part of my logic for trying Berceli's exercises was curiosity . Berceli was trauma relief specialist and developed his technique while working in war zones under fire. The exercises were developed to help people to recover from horrendous stress-rape,torture ,bombing ,genocide.I wanted to see if they were just another relaxation technique or something new and different that I could learn from .

I ordered Berceli's first book and DVD and started to learn the exercise. It took about 5 or 6 sessions often not sure whether I was doing the exercises correctly before I got it..Bingo I stood up one day after a 15 minute session with a first sense of being totally grounded in 63 years .I thought I had been in a pretty good spot in life and I used to think that being grounded as some a new age psycho babble term .I simply felt the glass is half full and it was staying there .I did the exercises about a total 20 times(15min) over a 3 month period often while listening to music. They were strange at first but become very relaxing. Now I do the exercises now only when I feel over stimulated and out of balance.

Ironically Berceli exercises have rekindled my interest in NF for better attention and focus as a performance tool .I felt for a while that I was against a wall with NF .In retrospect my body was holding old tension and memories that seemed to incase vague old negative scripts that I managed intellectually but could not be rid of no matter how well I functioned.NF seems icing on the cake and holds much more promise for training and maintaining focus and attention.I have had recently a number of great NFsessions ,the first in years and feel real synergy...

On training:I think the Berceli book and DVD are both helpful .The DVD is absolutely essential but the book more helpful for the little tips helpful for learning .From my experience, find a coach or telephone coach to check in with , .Although incredibly simple ,you will have questions whether you are doing the exercises " correctly " .Not everybody GETS IT right away it may take 5 or 6 times so don't get discouraged .Once you GET IT ,the feeling of release ,finding the release again is very easy when ever you need to ; then the need for coaching is gone.It is like learning to ride a bike once you get the skill it easy and you can use it to release old or newly acquired stress..

Clearly, in retrospect, the exercises both released old trauma tension and memories I did not know I had until they were gone but but also help build resiliency current day to stress and worry . It a wonderful experience to have stumbled into a key that along with NF to keep the glass half full even in the current mood of financial and political uncertainty .

Sorry to be so enthusiastic, but I believe this is a wonderful tool to enhance NF therapy and to build individual resiliency.
