Guest guest
Ok...one more blurb...this one about my beliefs on Gluten and Casein. First Casein: I do believe that Casein is a) Addictive and a problem for some of our kids. My daughter was the worlds best milk drinker. From bottle until about a year ago, milk was it...glasses of milk, milk in cereal, chocolate milk, yogurt, etc. etc. Right around the time Kindergarten started she stopped drinking milk. (oh, juice by the way also...apple juice) Both just stopped. She wouldn't eat cereal, yogurt, no more glasses of milk. The only thing she would drink is chocolate milk, but very rarely at our discretion. Now I'm not a scientist and this was not a scientific study, but I saw some major changes in Jacqui...most notably better speech and communication. Coincidence? I don't know, but I'll continue... Gluten: I also believe the same of gluten and it's effects on the digestive system. Jacqui has had severe toileting issues for a very long time. - And she had the same addiction to bread products. oh my word... just loads of toast, bread, rolls of any kind, cereal, etc..she just couldn't get enough. - as she cut back on these things, she again seemed to " get better " in that department. A couple of instances worth noting: We went out to the Olive Garden one evening and (shame on us), let her have Pizza, chocolate milk, and 3 breadsticks (she just couldn't get enough...um, hello!!) The next day...boom..toileting problems...what an a ha moment... Then, just recently, she has decided on wanting pancakes. Well, I figured, ok...it's something new, (Jacqu's diet is extremely limited), we'll give it a try. Well, now all she wants is pancakes, pancakes, pancakes... and since then I've seen more aggressive, defiant behavior. So what's the answer? Well, we are going to test for peptides thru Great Plains and then go from there. In the mean time we will continue our regimen that our doctor prescribed (mineral oil) to get things back to normal and try, yet still, to alter her diet to be more healthy. This morning I made her 3 small pancakes (she was eating 5 !!) ( I know...you're thinking " why would I do that " ..but...) and told her that the deal was she could have pancakes IF she ate an apple also. Well, guess what. She ate 1 pancake - and none of the apple. For the record, she likes apples. So...That's my story. Casein/Gluten - Addictive, YES I'll be sure to post the results of the tests once we get them...
