Hi Bianca

Would you be able to get him to drink vegetable juices or smoothies?

We didn't try GF CF till my dd was 15 and she was extremely resistant to trying

anything new ,just wanting cheese and milk and pasta, her diet was atrocious

and she was always ill.

We invested in a juicer and a vitamix blender and started giving her vegetable

juices and smoothies with all kinds of nutritious things hidden in them at the

same time as going cold turkey with gluten and casein.

She is gradually eating more variety but it isnt easy, we have to keep all the

banned foods under lock and key.

There have been hugh improvements from going GF CF in terms of more language ,

more facial expression,cessation of aggression.

We use tri enza from Mandimart before all meals,I believe it's a good all

rounder

Best wishes

Hi

What a terrible time for you all. The first question is always how are his bowels? Does he tend to loose or constipation, or both?

I can you an information DVD on enzymes and some samples to try but often times starting with a bowel clear out so you know all the crud is out helps with other supps and relieves pain and bloating.

Send me your address to MandiMart @aol.com without the gaps and I will send next week.

Houston have some new short video's up on their site

http://www.houston-enzymes.com/learn/videos/

and this one on the Autism Media CHannel goes into a bit more detail

http://www.autismmediachannel.com/?episode=90 & channel=101#nav128

Once you have grasped the basics then you'll know what questions you need to ask, happy to help anytime

Mandi x

I dont want to make this email too long with the lab results but I just wanted to know where I should go from here?? I think it was Mandi who said to try enzymes but I don't know where to begin with this or what benefit it would bring for my son? would it help him to break down foods he eats.......sorry, I don't know much about enzymes or which one is recommended. So difficult to get my son to widen his diet too, so any help would be really appreciated, thank you.

Hi Bianca, was any of those supplement making any difference to his cognitive or emotional or physical functioning?Natasa Reply-To: "Autism-Biomedical-Europe " <Autism-Biomedical-Europe >Date: Fri, 3 Feb 2012 15:50:20 +0000 (GMT)To: "Autism-Biomedical-Europe " <Autism-Biomedical-Europe >Subject: Supplement break - enzymes? advice pls

Hi, I have just done a one month supplement break for our son after being on them for two months. He is nearly 16. He has had two heavy colds, one in December and another nasty cold now. I tried my best to try and encourage him to eat 'good' foods (as recommended by a practitioner) but he continues to eat rubbish basically, the same foods such as pizza, bread and we decided to stop the supps to see how he got on, mainly because his appetite was practically zero. His diet has always been very restrictive. The first weekend of stopping he become very emotional and tearful for 2 days, then he seemed to even out. The last two weeks he has been drinking milk by the gallon, getting stomach aches, becoming spacey again, stimming and biting himself more. Self talk (very fatalistic) came back.

He has also become partial to drinking hot water from the hot water tap - I think this may be his way of trying to soothe his stomach aches! I started giving him 5-HTP before bed to help him get off to sleep a couple of days ago, he has the hormone thing going on too. I also introduced Zen again for relaxation. We never did start the anti candida Candiclear supp. We had all the lab tests done in August 2010 so the supplement regime is based on those. We started the regime back then but abandoned it all as unfortunately my son had health problems and had to have loads of hospital visits to check for Marfans Syndrome. It was a very stressful 8 months of tests on his heart and skeleton. His heart is ok but his body isnt, basically he has the features of the syndrome but not the syndrome itself - hence marfanoid habitus. Also turns out he had an unusual chromosome result from his dad (not linked to his autism or

learning difficulties) and we are still waiting on a detailed report from the geneticist. She worried us sick actually as she didnt state what specific chromosome or what the anomoly was!! I dont want to make this email too long with the lab results but I just wanted to know where I should go from here?? Hi Kath

I havent tried my son on vegetable juices or smoothies, we dont have these as a

family but I have a juicer (need to buy a blender)! so will give that a

try....you never know.

I seriously think this is why we didnt see big improvements with the supplement

regime, we didnt do GFCF from the outset and we just carried on not making

changes to his diet. I think I was desperate to try anything!

The tri enza sounds good, looking at Mandi's site now.

Thanks for your help

Hi Natasa, the Lipocell is very good for my son's joint aches and pains.

Overall, on the full supp regime the hyperactivity/giggling went away and also

self talk went completely. Going back to basics now with first enzymes to help

break down the casein and gluten and then start work on fine tuning his diet - I

think this is the key.
