My husband got one of these clickers for our dog...never even used it! I doubt if it would even work with our daughter...she'd probably enjoy the noise! To each there own I suppose...

The following program will be presented next week by the New EnglandSociety for Behavior Analysis and Therapy (NESBAT) and The May Institute.Continuing Education credits (1.5 hours) for psychologists will beavailable via The May Institute. Admission is free, and refreshmentswill be served.Date: Monday, February 5, 2001 at 6:30 p.m.Title: CLICKER TRAINING: A grass-roots application of Applied Behavior AnalysisPresenter: PryorLocation: Shriver Center 200 Trapelo Road Waltham, MA 02154 (see below for directions)Abstract: Clicker training is a science-based system for teaching behavior with positive reinforcement. It is the most widely- used application of Applied Behavior Analysis, which isbased upon the pioneering work of B. F. Skinner. A marker signal (the sound of a toy clicker) is used to tell the animal (or person) when it's doing the thing that will pay off. The system was first widely used by dolphin trainers, who needed a way to teach behavior without using physical force. It is now being used with many species of animals, and has become a standard technique in zoos across the country. When the trainee is a human being, clicker training reduces the need for correction, and it isespecially useful for training physical skills. Objectives: 1. Participants will learn the basic principles of clicker training, and how to apply them to working with bothhuman and animal subjects. 2. Participants will learn about "cutting edge" applications of positive reinforcement. 3. Participants will learn about possible directions for behavioral research using clicker training methods. Thisnon-coercive training, based on operant conditioning, was first widelydeveloped with dolphins. Clicker training is easy to learn and fun to do.It's sweeping the dog world and the horse world, and transforming animalcare in zoos. Thanks to the Internet, people are clicker training in overforty nations.http://www.clickertraining.com/"THE ART OF POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT DOG TRAINING"http://www2.tpg.com.au/users/rloftus/Click.htmClicker Training For Your Horsehttp://www.crisny.org/users/kurlanda/Exercising your PWD with Clicker Traininghttp://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Flats/7244/exercise.html(
