WISE THINKING, Mel! We have made our own toothpaste for years, several

different ways, all very easy. At first you might " miss " the foaming action of

toothpaste, but it is totally unnecessary, as are all the toxic ingredients

(most toothpaste contain several types of artificial sweeteners and other

toxins) We had mixed a little sea salt, drop of peppermint oil (the natural

stuff-or even crushed mint leaves) with virgin coconut oil (which is solid at

room temp, not really an oil) I didn't care for the mouthfeel of the cocnut

oil. Now, we just use a blend of 3 parts baking soda to one part sea salt, and

sometimes add a drop of peppermint-my daughter likes the peppermint, but I no

longer desire that taste after brushing-I like just the " clean " . You can store

it in a mason jar, and you can put in a sprig of rosemary, thyme, or half of a

cinnamon stick to flavor it. I keep my powder blend in a sugar dispenser in my

bathroom cabinet-I just moisten my toothbrush with peroxide (I keep that in a

spray bottle too) and shake some of the powder on to my brush. Works a charm!

I am OBSESSIVE about water-soooo much bad stuff in tap water, municipal water

supplies and bottled water-which is often nothing more than bottled tap water!

I am fortunate that my ex hubby has a wonderful artesian well, and he brings me

5 gallon jugs of water which I keep on a hot/cold dispenser and use for cooking

and drinking. When I am traveling, I buy spring water in GLASS-expensive and

hard to find, but worth it (I have had various waters tested) If I MUST by it

in a plastic jug, I pour it into a glass pitcher as soon as possible and let it

" breath " before covering it.

Melody,

We drink Deer Park water. We sometimes drink Penta water but it is very

expensive.

Currently Nic and I are using Tom's toothpaste without fluoride. Joe

prefers salt and baking soda, to harsh for my gums. I am looking at some

recipes to try.

You can purchase Rumfields Baking Powder which is aluminum free.

I also use a Deodorant Rock for my antiperspirant.

That is all I can think of right now.

Oh, and as for replacing minerals in water-don't bother-you get plenty in your

lovely sprouts! Adding TRUE sea salt into your diet is one way to add minerals,

but you are likely getting far more than adequate amounts just from your health

diet. " Enriched " foods and added minerals are the food industry's way of making

up for taking the good nutrients out in the first place! They get rid of the

good stuff, then " enrich " it with sprayed on " nutrients " which are from mostly

artificial sources, lol.
