Guest guest
The boy swimming wonder eats 12,000 calories / 50,000 kjoules/day to fuel his training and racing according to this article. http://tinyurl.com/68y2lx .. . . and he looks to be about 5% body fat. It's a New York Post article, so not sure how much can be believed, but they document typical meals. Sample: " Phelps lends a new spin to the phrase " Breakfast of Champions " by starting off his day by eating three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise. He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes. " I like the sugar on toast. I used to do that for an after school snack -- and I didn't even get one gold medal! If you're a serious athlete and you think you can do your best on some Paleo or low-carb diet or other, welcome to the real world. (It almost makes one want to train 6 hours a day.)
