Guest guest
hi Anita so glad you have put this information up for all those new people and anyone unaware of when the next conference is... regards, Isobel > > Hello all, > > The Treating Autism team has been working hard and we're happy to share some upcoming conference details. If you've not been to a TA conference before, please do read below. And if you have been to one of our conferences, we're trying something new so please do check out the details we can share for now. We will keep our members updated through emails, and also share information here. Please do pass this information on to anyone you think it might benefit. > > Sincerely, > Anita, K's mom and TA chair > > What can a Treating Autism conference do for you? More than you might ever imagine. > > The Treating Autism team consists of a devoted but motley crew of parents, which is an excellent thing! It means we organize conferences which are a great experience for everyone—and that means you too. We ensure that everyone will leave with new and valuable information. Our speakers range from cutting edge researchers to parents who are biomed veterans with years of experience to share. We provide introductory information for new people and more in-depth treatment options and research for veterans and practitioners. > > We also place just as much emphasis on making sure that you feel welcome. Without support, few parents could sustain the effort it takes to help their children—we know this from experience. Over the two days and two evenings, you will have a chance to network with other parents, meet service providers and autism-friendly businesses, and learn things that will inform your decision-making for a long time. You will run into old friends and leave with new ones made. The weekend will fill your head and heart, and fuel your motivation. We share not only experience and information, but tears, laughs, and a few glasses of wine over a friendly meal. And we do all of that at the lowest prices possible. > > This year the charity is trying something new. Day one of our conference will be devoted to non-biomed learning. We are offering our delegates a choice of three workshops that focus on therapies you can use yourself. You may wonder why we've chosen to try something different. Many of us have devoted our available finances to biomedical treatments. As well, very few of us are offered any research-based and effective therapeutic options through the schools or government supports, and we are left with little help in that area. > > Saturday September 8 offers you a choice of three in-depth workshops, each of which will provide you with enough information to go home and use appropriate and effective techniques to help your child in myriad ways. Please see the information sheets to read more about the presentations on Intensive Interaction, Relationship Development Intervention, and Verbal Behaviour. Our speakers are all highly motivated and experienced experts in their areas and will be able to provide you with useful and usable information. Please visit our website www.TreatingAutism.co.uk where you can read about the workshops and different therapies. The information will help you to choose the therapeutic approach that best suits your child and your family, but if you want have questions, please don't hesitate to use the contact information provided by the therapists. > > Late Saturday afternoon, after the workshops, there will also be an introduction to biomedical treatments presentation. This will be a chance for anyone new to these options to learn some basics about how to improve the health of children with autism and in doing so, improve their quality of life and their ability to learn. > > We are still confirming biomedical speakers for Sunday September 9. We will be providing you information on them shortly, and then tickets for this conference will go on sale. At the same time, we will also provide you with more details about the conference venue and accommodations. We are pleased to announce that the conference will take place in Uxbridge at Brunel University, which is both affordable for accommodations and easily accessed. You can read more about the venue here http://www.brunelconferenceservices.co.uk/. > Whether your child is newly diagnosed or already an adult, our conference will offer you something—many things—of value. Please do mark your calendar and start making arrangements to spend the weekend with us. Do it for your child and for yourself. > > Below we offer you some of the feedback we have received from delegates at our recent conferences. If you're still not sure what a Treating Autism conference could offer you, please take a moment to catch their enthusiasm. > > > Thank you all so much, I feel really energised and eager to try something new. > > Please keep doing an annual event. The TA team do a fantastic job: we are very grateful . . . Thank you! > > I have had an amazing experience this weekend. Thank you to everyone at Treating Autism for making me so welcome. I am taking away from this so much to help me and my daughter, can't wait for the next one! > Great conference. Hugely inspiring! > > Very good and realistic topics, also encouraging and giving hope to parents. Thank you. > > Thank you so much for all your hard work, unbelievable what you've achieved! > > Not only is this interesting and informative, it has refreshed my enthusiasm to push on and leave no stone unturned. > Really enjoyed, found it very interesting and has `revitalised' me for another year. > > I've been doing biomed interventions for 5 years. Thankfully I've never assumed I know it all. There's always something new to learn. This conference just proved that to me again. I learnt some new info. Thanks! > > Thanks so much for organising an informative and uplifting 3 days. > > Just a huge thank you! > > Great to know we're not alone. > > Again, excellent and informative. > > Really enjoyed this. Have done biomed for 2 year and Cutler protocol 6 months and a few other things, however I learned a lot today and loved the variety of speakers and depth of technical content. > Fascinating, motivating, informative, inspiring. > > Excellent – would definitely recommend it. > > Thank you for an extremely useful and informative conference. > > Very informative and inspiring. > > I've been on a biomed journey for 2 years and thought today was fantastic, both for new people I brought along and for me. A one day conference at this price was perfect for me. > > I thought that the Coventry conference was really good – but this one was even better. Thank you to all parents who are brave and honest enough to provide us with informed, honest, valuable, constructive ideas and suggestions. Thank you for the slide print-outs. They are informative and allow more concentration on the speakers at the time and the possibility of gaining more information on the return home. > > Great line-up and a nice venue. Loved the exhibition and the swap shop table! > Thank you very much – this conference has provided us with info, help and support we need to give our son the best care. > > Definitely becoming a member to attend many more. Very informative and value for money. I have learnt so much today about autism and the effects contributing to this disability that no professional I've seen before was able to tell me. > > I thought that it was very well planned and was very interesting for both parents who have been treating autism for a long time and for those who were just learning about the biomedical approach. As a new volunteer for autism, I did not know much about the biomed approach but I found the conference very informative and an excellent place to start. > > It's my first time to a conference. I have found it so helpful, and understanding autism a lot more! > > The best value conference I've ever been to. > > This was a wonderful conference – a great balance of practical information to take home & use and broader information for more all round knowledge. Thank you so much. > > Please keep giving us hope. And well done for getting this together. You have changed our child's life. > > Fabulously organised – you did an absolutely amazing job & all deserve a medal. Thanks so much on behalf of the parents & kids! Please do another one as soon as possible! > > This was a fantastic conference. It should be done annually. > Excellent event in every way – congratulations. > > The conference was inspirational, and I am leaving refreshed and renewed in my belief that I can help my son. MORE OF THE SAME! What a tremendous thing you did to organize this. >
