Guest guest
Get this for nadamania...when I was in the fifth grade I was so excited about going to my very first dance. It was Chirstmas time and near my birthday so I thought for sure everything would be magical...remember when this season was about magic? Anyway, in my head I envisioned myself dancing around in the purple Jordache jeans that I was dying to have...the ones that were so popular and so fashionable and so NORMAL! Wrongeroo...Megatron presented me with a large red and silver box the night before the dance. " Happy Birthday! " she trilled. I opened the Saks gift box to find...to my horror...a BROWN VELVET DRESS with a WHITE SILK BLOUSE. I must've tried to look pleased, unsuccessfully, because she instantly grew defensive about the choice...pitch and volume increasing with each syllable. " I never had a velvet dress when I was a child and I always wanted one. I had to wear Aunt ****'s hand-me downs. This came from Saks...SAKS FIFTH AVENUE! Plenty of girls would be thrilled to get this kind of gift. " Not plenty of fifth grade girls in the 1980's! The night of the dance I shuffled of to the church basement looking like (in my mind) a refugee from the " chocolate milk comes from chocolate cows " ad campaign. God bless Nicky I. because he danced with me anyway. Debbie
