Guest guest
Hi all, What are you opinions regarding starting children with weight training especially? I've listened to some authors such as Poliquin speak on this issue and reckons up to the age 12 is where the CNS maturates and where most cordination is developed, therefore in theory should be structurally ready to go. I'm of the opinion, attention spans and level of maturity and ability to follow instructions are of paramount also! However is there any recent hard evidence that gives outlines on when to progress with weight training, when to progress with cardiovascular fitness etc? Ive heard breifly about when growth spurts take place, that this is the ideal time to persue CV fitness? But am struggling to find the reference! I'd be interested in hearing your opinons as im in the middle of researching this and putting a presentation together to present to parents. Thanks in advance, O'Sullivan, Cork, Ireland.
