Guest guest
Lopid (gemfibrozil) alone has no association with muscle deterioration. Statins do, and for some reason this effect is more likely when Lopid is added. They muscle wasting associated with statin use causes aches and pains in the musculature and elevated CPK, which requires halting the statin use. In any event, it doesn't cause muscular people to "deflate". If you don't find enough benefit with Lopid, you will certainly find a more pronounced reduction in Triglycerides with the other fibrate Tricor (fenofibrate). Using two Lopid per day, my triglyceride levels only declined from an average of 207 to 154, a 25% reduction, almost exactly the percentage reduction reported in large trials. But on the lowest dose of Tricor (48 mg) my triglyceride level declined from an average of 207 down to 114, a 45% reduction. >> My doc has started me on Gemfibrozil to get my triglycerides down > without resorting to a statin.
