It has also helped my child with her aggression and she used to only sleep about four hours a night, now she sleeps eight hours, at least. The blindness must be a challenge for you and your child. , my daughter is so visual, that I can't imagine her vision being impaired and what type of impact that would have on her. is also " smell-oriented " , I call it. She smells everyone she is close to and we explain it to the relatives by saying that it helps her to remember who they are. Does your child use another sense to compensate? Vickie >> Vickie, yes, she has great hearing and touch, tho some textures she doesn't like. They are beginning to use what we call tactile symbols with her, like PECS. Using them in speech to give her choices. Part of Amber's midline defect in her brain is missing her septum pellicudim. Because of those defects it is believed that she has no sense of smell. We have tried several things with her (i.e., window cleaner, vinegar, ammonia) on a cotton ball, and she has showed no reaction. So far the risperdal is working though its only 4 nights, so far she has slept all night every night. TTFN, Ronda
