Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Share Posted May 1, 2006 Upcoming Workshop: PRIVATE PRACTICE FOR CREATIVE ARTS THERAPISTS MONDAY, JUNE 5, 6:00-9:30pm at the FRISCH HARA MUSIC THERAPY STUDIO, a fully equipped music therapy studio located on Manhattan's upper Eastside. This workshop will provide an MT-BC with 3 CMTE credits Facilitated by~ Frisch Hara, MA, MT-BC, LCAT Hara, MA, MA, MT-BC, CGP, LCAT The evening will provide information on issues important to starting and maintaining a private practice in creative arts therapy. (This includes independent contract work as well.) It will offer an overview, and explore starting up, conducting outreach that leads to independent contracts, locating and securing space, time management skills, marketing, referrals, cultivating community relationships, reimbursement, fee scales, population-specific issues, the benefits and drawbacks and more. For the student or new professional, thinking about private practice/independent contractor work in the future, as well as clinicians who want to expand existing practices. Workshop participants will learn the necessities of starting and maintaining a private practice and the challenges and opportunities that private practitioners face. Workshop outline: Introduction; Doing private practice- challenges and opportunities; Starting up; Outreach for referrals/contracts; Finding space; Developing skills to conduct a practice; Break; Licensure; Fees and reimbursement (including CPT codes); Discussion- Practical benefits and drawbacks; Question/answer period; Summary and CMTE documentation (for MT-BCs taking workshop for credit) Limited space to ensure personal attention. Advanced registration required: $55 if check and registration received by May 15; $65 if check and registration received by May 24; $75 after that, as space allows. Her previous positions were Director of the 9.11 New York City Music Therapy Relief Project (A collaboration between the American Music Therapy Association and the Recording Academy- the producer of the Grammy’s) and Director of the Music Therapy Institute, a division of a community music school in Westchester, NY. has twenty-five years of experience as a music therapist & supervisor with over ten years of performing contractual clinical work. He is now engaged in a part-time music therapy practice along with his regular position as a creative arts therapy department head at a large NYC hospital. Private Practice For Creative Arts Therapists is approved by the Certification Board For Music Therapists (CBMT) for 3 Specialty Continuing Music Therapy Education Credits. The Frisch-Hara Music Therapy Studio, #P079 maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT policies and criteria.
