I am doing arts administration for this wonderful

dance company, MIsnomer Dance Theater. If you want to

see something out of the ordinary, with beautiful

shapes and intriguing dynamics, here's the info:

CHRIS ELAM / MISNOMER DANCE THEATER

Premieres " THROW PEOPLE " for five performances May

11-14 at PERFORMANCE SPACE 122

Join us for a raucous evening of new dance and live

music! " Throw People " blends serious play with jarring

tenderness and manages to be simultaneously

otherworldly and innately human. Featured as a

must-see performance in The New York Times's Season

Preview, the work is accompanied by Andy Teirstein's

original music which will be performed live on

marimba, accordion, trumpet, mandolin, and harmonica.

Misnomer is a NYC-based, six-person modern dance

company that has performed across the USA, Cuba,

Turkey, Ireland, Brazil, and Indonesia. The company

will be featured later this spring on the homepage of

apple.com in a documentary shot by Apple Computers

featuring Misnomer's upcoming dance project for the

Resfest digital film festival.

" Throw People " was made possible in part by The

American Music Center Live Music for Dance Program and

The Manhattan Community Arts Fund/New York City

Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by the

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council. The work was

created during a residency provided by The Joyce

Theater Foundation, New York City, with major support
