Guest guest
Hi Clare, Your dr. is giving you good advice re the compression stockings, but for the wrong reason. EN has nothing to do with circulation. However the swelling gets out of control and the stockings help in that regard. Also, and this is my own opinion, the EN lumps are composed of immune cell clusters and the stockings help to keep them contained so that they do not break away to form satellite nodes. I only get EN in my lower left leg, near the ankle on the inner areas. I typically get one or two nodes. They never ulcerate. Ulceration is not the way EN behaves, but Pyoderma Gangerosum does ulcerate. I use compression stockings even when in remission on my EN leg. I think it helps to keep me in remission. I also try to limit time on my feet as it seems to aggravate my EN. When I am flared up I elevate the legs and get as much (bed)rest as I can.
