Guest guest
Hi , my joint pain was only really severe for a week but is still uncomfortable and if I bend down I cannot get up again without help. I'm a secretary and have started back at work doing slightly reduced hours at the moment. It's not ideal and I'd rather be off till I heal completely but I cannot afford to lose my job. I think it will mean in my case healing will take longer, but hopefully not that it won't happen at all. Mainly I sit down and type so not too much moving around, but getting up off my chair gets more uncomfortable each time the day goes on. My knees are the worst culprit. I'm taking one paracetamol in the morning for the pain and hydrochloroquine twice a day. I have another appointment with my rheumatologist on Friday morning and I'm hoping he'll tell me to reduce the hydroxychloroquine to one tablet a day as I don't like taking it for fear of long-term effects. If cortisone is a steroid it will help with pain and swelling but I don't like taking it long term as it only masks the symptoms and while you are completely pain free I think you may do more damage by overdoing things. If you keep some of the discomfort, you know when you've had enough. Just my humble opinion.
