Guest guest
Hello all. I am fairly new to the group but I have had EN for about 5 years now. It was originally thought that mine was caused by birth control pills. Well I've been off of them for a year and wham! I get more EN nodules. I have had at least one on my legs since April, and I have one (and only one, it's sort of weird) now that is particularly bad - last week I was limping. Well, I've finally gone to some doctors that are being more active in trying to figure out what is wrong. (Rather than just saying, deal with it). I had a run of blood tests and a chest x-ray (the standard stuff) and all that came out normal. My derm did a punch biospy of one of my nodules and it turns out that I have a variant of EN called Subacute Nodular Migratory Panniculitis (or Villanova's disease). What she thinks is that maybe the BC pills triggered the EN and now my immune system is overreacting to nothing. I did have another blood test done yesterday to test for a thyroid condition (I guess that can be linked to this variant), but I haven't heard anything from that yet.
