Guest guest
AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT WORKSHOP Creativity and intuition arise from the deepest, most authentic layers of the self. Through the medium of Authentic Movement, this workshop will provide an opportunity to explore the authentic self as a source of creativity in one's work and life. By allowing the body to express itself, without judgment or expectation we create the space for those parts of the self to be heard without the demands of everyday obligations that impinge on it. Authentic Movement is a profoundly simple form in which one moves with eyes closed in the presence of a 'witness'. By yielding to sensation, memory and impulse encoded in the bodily-felt self, the mover can gain access to what Stern refers to as "implicitly encoded experience" which may inform a narrative understanding of both ones' self and the larger human experience. This Six week workshop will be geared to both new and experienced movers - no prior movement experience is necessary. WHEN: Thursday Evenings 7:00 -9:00 PM January 24th - February 28th WHERE: Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) 421 Fifth Avenue (between 7th and 8th St.) (Near 9th St./4th Ave stop on F train) FEE: $120.
