Guest guest
, My computer geek kids run programs such as Spybot—Search and Destroy and several others through my computer every now and then to clean up the viruses and worms. You can download them if you know what you are looking for. One of my sons is an IT tech and says they work pretty well. He also said that the really good hackers like to write programs that disguise themselves and hide in the programs in the computers that they infect. Then you have to actually find the program and delete it. The virus that crashed your computer may not have infected it on the same day. All in all, there are programs that you can use in addition to your virus protection to help keep your computer operating well. I don’t understand all the technical stuff but sort of understand the principles. Hope this might help in the future. Barb (no subject) I just wanted to let everyone know, that ten days ago I downloaded something that caused my computer to go crazy. Then I got a black screen with the words in the upper corner, " windows protection error " and some numbers. My two so called computer " experts " could not get into the computer for me or figure out the problem. I then had it picked up by a repair company and they had to clean everything from the computer. The diagnosis was " some kind of virus or worm or whatever " this despite that fact that the only mail that I downloaded the morning this happened, was two Aol messages and the mail from this website. I was told that even although I have virus protection of my computer, it is even possible for somebody to go on sending out an attachment without the sender being aware of the problem. Please let me know if any of you have had this happen to you ? Thanks. in Ca.
