Guest guest
Seeking Last Minute Internship for Academic Year 2008-2009 Hello Everyone, My name is Elim Mak, and I am a new graduate student enrolled at Pratt Institute's Creative Arts Therapy Department. I am currently in a bit of a perplexing internship situation: the internship that was originally intended for me has unfortunately fallen through at the last minute, and classes start next week. Although I am a first year student, I have considerable life experience. I have already worked with mentally ill adults - as an unofficial intern at Mount Sinai psychiatric rehabilitation center, and also as an Art Group Instructor at Ivan Shapiro House, Urban Pathway's residence for the formerly homeless. My professional history mainly lies in comic book and storyboard illustration, and fine art painting. Growing up as a Chinese-Canadian-American, I have firsthand account of cultural identity issues and what it means to come from an immigrant family. I feel I have much to offer, whatever the internship position may be. Having said that, I am also open to working with other populations such as the elderly, women, teens, and children. If any of you may know of any internship leads, it would be most greatly appreciated. My contact information is elim.mak@..., and my numbers are , or . Thank you very much! Best regards, Elim Mak
Guest guest
Hi Elim, Although I have been in the field of social work for a few years, I am a recent graduate of Pratt's Art Therapy program and I am still looking for an intern for the fall. Dina actually contacted me a week ago asking if my site is still available for a first-year intern, and when I read your posting I thought that you might be the person she is currently helping to place. The site is an adult day program for geriatric clients. It is based on a medical model, but you would have the opportunity to explore art therapy from a variety of different approaches with these clients. Since I am still accruing hours for my licensure, you may need an additional off-site art therapy supervisor to oversee your work. However, you may be able to recieve as much guidance and supervision from me as you need. Since the program is located in New Rochelle (north of the city), your travel time may depend on where you live. We can discuss solutions such as carpooling if this is an obstacle. Guest guest
I deeply apologize for sending a private e-mail out to the group, as I just realize I've done. If you haven't already done so, please disregard an e-mail addressed to Elim Mak. My regrets, nne
