Guest guest
While awaiting licensure you may only put MA or MPS (whatever your master's level degree is) on charts. Most places do not require a licensed co-signer as you are no longer in intern and have your degree as a clinician. There are plenty of unlicensed professionals doing charting. On a business card or your office sign, it would simply say "Your Name, Art Therapist" Application for Limited Permit (LCAT) To: NYCCAT > Hello All- > > I am a MA Art Therapist, applying for the provisional LCAT, as I > recently relocated to NY, from Philadelphia. > > During a recent interview, an interesting questions came up regarding > the provisional license and charting. > > "How would an Art Therapist with a provisiona
Guest guest
In my experience it depends on what your title is. You may be acting as an art therapist but if your title is recreation therapist, then you sign with that title. (If you have the title then the employer has decided your training is equivalent and all you need is the given title name). If however you are working as an art therapist under a permit, I still think you need only sign your name, as you are a permit holder. If you are not a permit holder, I am not sure where that leaves you...Just a little input from my experience.a Mac MPS, ATR-BC, LCATjacqueline wrote: Hello All- I am a MA Art Therapist, applying for the provisional LCAT, as I recently relocated to NY, from Philadelphia. During a recent interview, an interesting questions came up regarding the provisional license and charting. "How would an Art Therapist with a provisional license sign their name to documents in the chart?" There was debate over whether I would need a licensed co-signer, so to speak, such as their LCSW, when documenting, or if I would address my candidacy for LCAT? I left a message with the board at the NYSED, and am waiting to hear back. In the meantime, any knowledge on the topic would be great. Thanks, PS-If anyone else is in the process of applying for their provisional, maybe we could knock heads about the trials and tribulations of the process! Feel free to contact me, as this is all very new territory for me. ***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************"The goal of development...is not one of giving up illusion, but of developing the skills and techniques to make our illusions reality." -Art Robbinsa Mac MPS, ATR-BC, LCATArtist/Art Therapist313 E.92nd.
