Guest guest
I want to thank for the article about Love and Asperger's that she posted on here. I thought the article was very insightful, as I have chosen to learn from that and everything else I can find about Love and Asperger's. Sure, I'm highly intelligent, and in a field where I am overqualified and such. But at the same time, I am cognizant of where I am and where I want to be down the road. While I appreciate the " now " moments of taking in everything at its current time, I do have a vision for my future and where I want to go with it. While I may have AS, I blaze my own trail and refuse to let others determine what my future will be. I'm far more spontaneous now than I ever have been in my life to this point. Just on Friday last week, I left work a few hours early because I felt like it and enjoyed a spontaneous afternoon/evening doing whatever I wanted out in the public. I didn't give any reasons to my co-workers (and some of them asked). Why would I want to, anyway? No one needs to know what I do with my personal life unless I want to share that with them (and trust me. Yeah, I like to have my " me time " , as I did on Friday afternoon/evening last week. Also, I thank on her post about how all people with AS aren't equal. They aren't. I like to be outside more and draw myself as close to nature and beauty as possible. I love art in all its forms. I love the way something looks, and perhaps I should have been an interior designer or something ( Lowell, eat your heart out, dude..). Yeah, I know there's a tendency for people with AS to be overwhelmed with visual stimulation and such. I don't see that being necessarily true for me. I am a very visual person, and appreciate that about me. I am not AS totally, as I have ADHD as well. As a result, I love variety and spice in life. I don't like being " couped " up in my apartment. I prefer to meeting others locally, as opposed to chatting online. I find that I tend to gravitate towards people who are creative and passionate in what they do or how they see life. Also, I tend to gravitate towards people who enjoy intelligent/intellectual conversation. To me, depth of a person is of greater importance to me than just the way someone looks externally. Yeah, I'll agree with NT's and others that taking care of one's self is of great importance. I exercise as much as possible, eat as healthy as possible (a lot of organics/healthy fats), and stay out of trouble with the law. But spending two hours every morning in front of a mirror getting ready for the day? That's a complete waste of time to me. But yes, each person with AS is different than all others who have it. Much like each person with ADHD is different than all others who have it. That includes everything else as well. That is why I suggest to everyone (this includes those with AS, NT, NS, AT, AN, SA, TS, SN, TN (oh wait, that's Tennessee), ST, or BS - I listen to CarTalk on NPR if anyone knows the brothers I'm talking about on there and find their sense of humor incredible). Ok, that's enough before one of you decides to call the Aspires cops on me on charges of trying to make this group a more humorous place than it should be..wait did that come out right? Just someone excited about the new Indiana movie coming out next month....
