Guest guest
I made an interesting discovery yesterday. I got a team of landscaping friends together to help a friend in great need to do his pussy willow harvest. I have usually been his main helper. This year he needed help more than ever because he has been on crutches (or wheelchair) for months with a knee replacement removed for infection. So of course I felt guilty having my friends doing a favor for someone they hardly know since I can't be much help this year (bad PG flare up since early Sept. 2007). I assumed I would maybe be able to prune a couple of bushes, if that. Surprise. I worked steadly for four hours with virtually no pain. I have very distracting and uncomfortable "pain" (I hesitate to even use that word anymore, since I found out what it REALLY means during the past five months) whenever I stand even long enough to hold a conversation or wash a few dishes. Just a few days ago, I struggled greatly to finally get my Christmas decorations packed away. It took two days because I had to quit so frequently. But I found out yesterday that I can work on my feet as long as I am constantly moving around. Apparently it is only the standing still that is bothering me. Since it was so wet and muddy/snowy, I wore what I call my Robin boots. They are very loose and they did not bother my recently (within the month) healed over lesions which still threaten pathergy at one edge. It was wonderful to get outdoor footwear on after months in slippers (the kind like a sleeping bag with a drawstring at the top). Moving around and working outside yesterday was actually more comfortable than sitting in a chair has been. I still prop my leg up because the hot, needlelike prickling starts up when I sit the same, but not as pronounced, as it does when I am standing still. I'm referring to the new scars that are prickling (I have scars from early last summer that still do this too). I don't have any open lesions at this point. Not all scars do this. I wonder if I have nerve damage at some old sites but not others. I had the flu or a really bad cold last week. I have a particularly wicked mouth sore going for several days now. It's the worst one I've ever had. My cheek is hard and swollen as though I had a toothache. I've been rinsing with peroxide. I've tried swishing and spitting the Maalox and benedryl rinse that one of you so kindly suggested at this site. It worked like a charm on previous mouth sores, but doesn't seem to touch the pain of this one. Any other suggestions out there in PG land? (I'm routing for your employment news, Jeff, hoping we will all be celebrating with you any day now.) Tina PG idio '04 Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
