Tee Shirt- was social anxiety v. Aspergers, my son

Hi , LOL! Pretty funny Tee Shirt. It makes me think that my ex might not have been AS, just a control freak: He often asked about my day, but with the intent of judging me, rather than empathizing at all. I am still smiling at your Tee-shirt, though: I believe he would have worn it. His favorite expression (and I made him a Tee-shirt like this, which he wore a lot) was: "You can lead a horse's ass to water but you can't make him think!" He also frequently asked people, "Were you born an ass, or did you study for the part?" On the other hand, there are whole classes of AS folk who really do have enough theory of mind to care about others, and are still AS. (One well-konwn class is "shy gorillas", but we are not all shy.) In my case, I am still leaning quite a bit- even daily. Is there a Tee shirt for us? (Not: "I was born an AS

and did not have to study for the part"- <grin>) But, seriously, I do not even like to tell people that I am AS who think of AS folk as selfish or mindblind- I have difficulty in discerning social sues, or knowing where another person is at, but I certainly know that another person has feelings, and I certainly care. Is there a good way to disclose that I am AS without people's drawing the inference that I think it is all about me? (And, yes, I may come off that way at times, even though I try not to.)
