The root post has a subject, nothing more is required, nor ought any further subject lines be display, waste of space. The conversation flow is shown by threading. Think about it: every post is a direct comment to the subject line? of course it isn't. View it as an advertisement inviting participation. In a place like this it is often necessary to give a context... why we quote. Close the treads, there is a list of subjects. Open them and there are the threads.
