My (recently diagnosed) AS husband and I were watching

the Super Bowl when this ad played:

<http://youtube.com/watch?v=vgtfC5LBAW4>

He says this ad is his life only in real life, there

are many things that interfere with his ability to

process conversations: background noise, two or more

people talking at once, the buzz from CFLs, etc. It

suddenly made sense why he avoids spending time with

my family: we all chatter at once.

His take on AS eyes " looking dead " is that if you

video tape people at a concert, their eyes will look

dead as the rest of their senses take over to process

the sound and physical vibrations of the music. He is

so often overwhelmed by the environment that his eyes

shut down, and it doesn't mean he's lying, or not

engaged, it's the opposite: he's using all of his

senses to figure out what the heck is going on.
