Guest guest
I am considering marrying someone who I believe has AS. We have been dating 1 1/2 years. He is 47, and I am 44. He has never been diagnosed. However I am positive he has it. He admits to being compulsive. I told him about AS. He was open to the conversation, and wondered if it was a cure. Of course I told it was no cure, but it offered understanding to how he perceives life. I am a licensed nurse and have worked with autistic kids over the years. Also I have a nephew who is autistic with severe behavior problems. So I recognized some of the signs after dating him for a few months. Anyway the guy that I am dating is very rigid about his time. We usually only see each other once or twice a week. Only usually for 4 to maybe 6 hours on a good visit. I have only been to his home ONE TIME in 18 mths! And for that visit I spent the night. We only have spent 3 nights together in 18 mths! Recently he told me the only way he can allow me in his life more is if I marry him. Then I would have to move into his house. I am a single parent with a 15, and 16 year old at home. I do love him dearly, however I have read so much on this disorder, and relationships that is negative.I am not sure of what to do. By the way he has difficulty making eye contact, holding conversations, really strict about where he eats, and what he eats. He is very intelligent, and accomplished in every area accept for personal relationships.
