Guest guest
Hi everyone, I wanted to add a few things to the indoor air quality issue. My husband just worked on a nursery school, and when he came home he was mortified at the condition. There was a door to the infants room that led straight down to the crawl space. He opened the door and evacuated the building. I just visited a special school for my son, and there is no way he will let him attend, because of the shape it is in. If you have a basement look along the floor and wall to make sure mold is not growing. Stachybotrys atra (pronounced Stack-ee-bot-ris) is a black mold that can be fatal to infants. When we moved into our house, we had along the basement floor on the wall. We got rid of it right away. If your house floods, you need to dry it out in 24 hours. If you call someone out, make sure you get a consultation and agree on a plan of action. A lot of companies will do excessive amounts of testing, hand you the results and walk away. This is a new field, and like Plagiocephaly you need a diagnosis and a prescription. If you have older children check out their schools. Flat roofs are a known hazard. If there is a faint odor where you work, get enough people to complain. Mold can get into the ventilation system and do real harm. If you live in snowy states, ice dams on the roofs can cause problems. We plan on opening up a Non Profit to try and help out the schools.
