Downfalls of Specialized Medicine

It seems that we have all been under the pressure

to diagnose ourselves at some point. This is as

ridiculous as performing surgery on yourself.

I don't cut my own hair, why should I have to

be my own physician?

I think part of the problem is specialized medicine.

After all, the homeostasis of any organization

(and the human body IS an organization) is dependent

upon synergy, and treating the " unit " as a whole.

Specialists seem to know their " ballywick " and nothing else.

They cannot make connections and are frequently too lazy

to embark upon this task.

Systemic illness is just that...doctors MUST begin to

recognize that it it their responsibility (NOT OURS)

to explore these vital connections and correlations.

As a Graduate Student (way back when) I witnessed

first-hand how many Professors fell into the " myopic

trap " . The more they researched one topic, the less

they related and remembered about the entire genre.

I will figure this out...we will, together, I'm sure.

For example, does anyone notice that bumps get worse

if you are dehydrated? It makes sense. But, I am not

an MD and am just offering observation.

My hypothesis is that if the skin is taut vis-a-vis

dehydration, the elasticity diminishes and the skin

is more prone to lump up.

So much for now...I have to put my thinking cap away

and get some rest.

Love to all,

:)
