Dear Lesley,

I read your answer to the woman whose husband never told her he loved her. You said in your reply that you receive few letters from men with brooding resentment at the state of their marriage.

Let me redress the balance: my wife shows me no affection whatsoever. We have been married for more than 30 years. We have a nice home and two cars. I've always been in work and we are well off. We have an expensive holiday each year and several mini-breaks.

I have never been unfaithful. We are in regular touch with our children. My wife wants for nothing. But despite all this, she never shows me any affection. She pulls away from any attempt at physical contact on my part.

When we do make love, once in a blue moon, she shows no interest and has a look that says "be as quick as you can"...

What should I do?
