No, I do not know. If I have it or not and should I , What is it?

I plan to see the doctor.

But right at the moment I have a infected toe. Using some

anti biotic cream for about 7 days as it states on the box.

IF it doesn't clear up then I am going to the clinic for both issues.

So far the liquid has stopped again. As long as the protective scab

doesn't tear off.

So what is your advise. Diane

Diane,

Are you sure you do not have Pyoderma Gangrenosum?

diane,

my advice is to be careful when you go see the doc. first of all he

needs to dx it properly, which means a punch biopsy (scraping it for

an infection test will NOT determine pg!). secondly, he must not

irritate it to the point of causing " pathergy " . by irritation i mean

cutting it open (except for the biopsy), deep debriding or excessive

scraping. minor scraping if it has nurcrotic tissue build up is

acceptable. lavage, whirlpool and wound cleaning/care are acceptable

and encouraged. pg is NOT an infection and cannot be treated in the

same respect (this is what " most " docs think pg is, since infections

are so common). just a word of caution......take it from one who

knows.

a word on treatment. if it IS pg and it is minor/small and not too

severly ulcerating (not bleeding), then a topical oinment works

really well, called protopic. it is rx and it is expensive, but for

minor to moderate pg, it works great to start out with.

jeff,

pg,
