Mouth Ulcers and EN

Before I was diagnosed with EN (which ended up in a hospital stay) I

had a terrible bout of mouth ulcers. Though I am now recovering from

EN (joints are not swelling too badly now and nodules have changed into

red/purplish patches) the mouth ulcers have now returned and I was just

wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience ~ are the mouth

ulcers a co-incidence or are they related to EN?

I had a few bouts of mouth ulcers when my EN was flaring last year. My

doctors all said that it is common in people with autoimmune disorders

to get ulcers in the mouth and nose, however, they are usually

painless. Mine were always quite painful, and lasted several weeks. I

recently discovered that a mold allergy is one of my EN triggers, and

molds are really high in California this time of the year. I've been

in remission from EN for almost a year now, since I started on

Plaquenil. However, just this week my gums are so swollen and sore,

and I may be developing an ulcer in my mouth. For me it feels like

I've eaten something that I'm allergic to, but my dentist thinks it

could be my mold allergy. Anyway, your ulcers are most likely related

to the EN. Good luck in your healing.
