Guest guest
Hi there a, Just a brief comment. When I was in my "discovery phase" regarding AS and especially AS in the family (genetic) I came across many articles that connect auto-immune system problems, particularly Thyroid problems or deviations, to autism. I have had Graves disease, my Mom has an underactive Thyroid, My Gran has had goitre, and there are aunts and uncles with something or the other related to the Thyroid. I even had chicken-or-the-egg moments about this... Nevertheless, AS runs very strong in my family so it would seem that the references had some merit. The Thyroid regulates bodily functions..... perhaps this could be a direction to look in? Kind regards, Rochelle
Guest guest
rochelle for me they have been to dx of autoimmune diseases and things of that such as sjogrens and now fibromyalgia and the doctor suspects of thyroid isssues too as she feels a nodule on the left side but if one presses in on either side of my neck where they thyroid would be it does cause an odd sensation of pressure and or pains there. I to recently had one tell of me much of the things i to have as symptoms do seem to reflect of thyroid issues too. we too ahve of much spectrum issues within the birth family of me too. We go from mild AS to moderate/severe autism issues throughout the family for several generations. I to ahve of one little nephew who is of developing much like of me as a child. he is of to be of 4 I to think as of january and still has no words and just is beginning baby jibberish. he does not play or initate interactions and is of much so just only to feel safe near hims mother because she is of hims tool to get food and needs met for him since he does not communicate. if she is of eating he has of access to food and never has a need to gesture or communicate of it. he does have much tears and tantrums all day because he cant communciate of hims needs or play or avoid the sensory overloads he gets. hims older brother is of strong to reflect of AS but neither is of got evlauations because for the family of me this isof the normal so it does nto seem odd for us, but now that I to know of better it is of hard to get of them to see of it too. I to get upset to them because the avoiding to me is of wasting crucial educational times to teach and work with them in ways that will maximize of their potentials and successes.
